Hive & Harmony

Date

Feb 2026

Hive & Harmony makes 100% beeswax candles. They are pure, sustainable, and genuinely beautiful. The brief was to build a visual identity from the ground up that reflected all of that, without looking like it belonged on a trestle table next to a jar of manuka honey.

The OPPORTUNITY

Beeswax candles carry a lot of baggage. Mention them and most people picture something yellowy, slightly waxy, and decidedly rustic. The kind of thing sold at a farmers market by someone who also keeps the bees. Hive & Harmony was something different: a considered, quality product with real values around sustainability, natural ingredients and craft. The challenge was carving out a visual identity that honoured that handmade quality without disappearing into the sea of either well-meaning-but-rough artisan brands or the hundreds of sleek, identical soy candle brands doing their best Scandi impression. This needed to be its own thing.

The brand also needed to speak to an audience who genuinely want to support sustainable products but who've been burned (!) before by brands that talk a good game and then under-deliver. Trust had to be earned visually, before a single candle was lit.

THE PROCESS

The visual identity was developed from scratch, logo, typography, colour palette, graphic devices, and brand guidelines. From there, the work extended across product photography, printed materials, and digital assets including Shopify and Klaviyo.

The pebble- or more accurately, 'the wax blob' became the central graphic device. Organic, slightly imperfect, instantly ownable. It appears as gift and candle care cards, as a die-cut window in packaging, and as a quiet but distinctive brand mark throughout. The colour palette leans into warm honey tones and muted slate, grounding the brand in something that feels natural and considered rather than clinical or try-hard.

THE SOLUTION

The resulting identity sits in a space that very few candle brands occupy: handcrafted without being rough, premium without being cold, sustainable without being preachy. The hand-drawn elements and tactile details signal quality and care.
